ASTM D3402 Tumbler Machine

DESCRIPTION

ASTM D3402 Tumbler Machine is a testing unit designed to determine and calculate the stability and hardness of metallurgical coke destined for blast furnaces. The unit is manufactured in compliance with the ASTM D3402/D3402M-23 standard, providing high-accuracy results.

Drums: The unit includes two drums made of approximately 6 mm thick steel plate, each measuring Ø910 mm x 455 mm. The drums rotate at 24±1 rpm and automatically stop after 1400 rotations, thanks to an automatic digital counter. This feature enhances the precision and consistency of the test.

Collection Trays and Enclosure: The unit is equipped with two sample collection trays and features an enclosed cabinet that offers protection against noise and dust. The cabinet is fitted with two safety covers, providing significant advantages for operator safety and maintaining a clean work environment.

This coke drum is an ideal solution for laboratories and industrial applications seeking to assess the properties of metallurgical coke. It is designed to provide reliable and precise measurements in sample preparation processes.

ASTM D3402/D3402M-23 Standard

The ASTM D3402/D3402M-23 standard was developed to assess the physical properties of materials like metallurgical coke, such as abrasiveness, stability, and durability. This standard defines test methods used to determine the mechanical strength of coke and coal, particularly before their use in blast furnaces.

Importance of the Standard:

This standard ensures that the quality of coal and coke can be reliably evaluated to allow for efficient use in metallurgical processes. The abrasion resistance, stability, and durability of coke and coal used in blast furnaces are measured through tests conducted according to this standard. The ASTM D3402/D3402M-23 standard is a globally recognized reference to maintain consistency in production and quality control processes.

Test Methods:

The tests prescribed by the standard involve processing samples in rotating drums at a specified rate, after which the samples’ abrasiveness and stability are assessed. These tests help estimate the material’s functional lifespan and predict how it will respond to challenging conditions in blast furnace applications.

Applications:

The ASTM D3402/D3402M-23 standard plays a critical role in mining, metallurgy, power generation, and other industries by evaluating the performance of coal and metallurgical coke. The standard serves as a foundation for quality control procedures in both laboratory settings and production facilities.
