This HPGe Lead Shielding System is designed to provide safe protection of high purity germanium detectors. The system has a cylindrical structure that offers superior protection against radiation.
- Material: The system consists of inner and outer walls made of 10 mm thick steel sheet. The 90 mm wide gap between these steel walls was filled with pure lead and armor was provided. This structure provides maximum protection of the detector from radiation.
- Covers: Three hinged open-close covers integrated into the body enable the armoring system to be opened and closed easily. The covers are also manufactured with a combination of steel and lead, thus ensuring sealing and protection at the highest level.
- Inner Coating: The inner surfaces of the main chamber and covers are covered with 1.5 mm thick pure copper plate. This coating protects the detector from possible chemical effects from the external environment and also increases the functionality of the detector.
