LCPC Test Device

DESCRIPTION

The LCPC (Laboratoire Central des Ponts et Chaussées) test device is a laboratory equipment designed to evaluate the abrasiveness of soil, rock, and granular materials. This test determines the abrasiveness coefficient (ABR), playing a crucial role in the performance analysis of tunnel boring machines (TBM), drilling, and excavation equipment, which are exposed to high abrasion.

The LCPC test provides a reliable method for assessing the abrasiveness properties of rocks based on their mineralogy and grain size. Manufactured by Ünal Mühendislik, this device is fully compliant with AFNOR P18-579 standards and ensures high precision and repeatable test results.

Working Principle

During the test:

  • The steel test plate (60-75 Rockwell B hardness) rotates at 4500 RPM for 5 minutes, interacting with a 500-gram sample (4-6.3 mm particle size).
  • Once the test is completed, the mass loss of the steel plate is measured to calculate the abrasiveness coefficient (ABR – g/t).
  • The ABR value is a key parameter for predicting the performance and wear resistance of cutting tools and excavation machinery.
